Headshots keep getting more popular, driven by how much business now happens on social media and online. Aaron came to me for new headshots for his LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook pages. He is massively into videography, so we had a great time talking photography gear and technology. Aaron runs Seven Castle, a videography company that gives businesses the tools to present their services, and his YouTube channel promotes his work.
For me, the difference between a headshot and a portrait is the end use. With a headshot I want the face to be the focal point. It should be an honest picture of the person, not a heavily photoshopped version. Meeting someone in business who looks nothing like their profile picture is a little disconcerting, and it makes me wonder what else is being glossed over. I understand that as we get older, or feel less sure in front of the camera, close focus on the face can feel uncomfortable. My job is to take the most flattering picture in the best possible light. I actively promote body positivity and encourage people throughout their time at the studio. I use two setups in the studio, one quite bright and the other more classical, which gives clients a good choice of images for different purposes.
Aaron was kind enough to leave a review: “I had a great time getting some up to date headshots with Bob. He’s very knowledgeable about photography and it was awesome seeing the setup he’s got in his studio. Would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting any photos done.” If you are after headshots that help you stand out, just get in touch or take a look at my rates.
