Frequently Asked Questions on Headshot Photography

Each session includes a pre-shoot consultation, time in the studio with professional lighting, background selection, and the opportunity to review and choose your images in a private online gallery. Retouching is included for selected images.

Most headshot sessions last approximately one hour. This allows time for outfit changes, lighting adjustments, and coaching to achieve a variety of looks. Extended sessions are available on request.

Your preferences matter. If there are aspects of your current headshot that you particularly like, such as the angles or the lighting, it guides me in capturing similar features in the new photograph. Your satisfaction is paramount, and understanding what you like helps in achieving that.

My studio is located at Base Business Park (the former RAF Bentwaters) in Rendlesham, near Woodbridge, Suffolk. Free on-site parking is available, and full directions are provided upon booking.

I send all clients a preparation guide upon booking, which includes advice on wardrobe, grooming, and what to bring. Neutral, solid colours usually photograph best. Avoid logos, busy patterns, or overly trendy pieces unless they reflect your personal brand.

Yes. I recommend bringing 2–3 different tops or jackets to vary the look. We can review your choices at the start of the session to decide what will photograph best.

Hair and makeup are not included by default, but I can recommend local professionals who are familiar with studio lighting and photographic requirements. Clients may also bring their own stylist.

Absolutely. It is my responsibility to guide you through the process. I provide direction on posture, expression, and angles, and take time to build a relaxed atmosphere so that you feel at ease.

Yes. We can review images periodically on-screen to ensure we are achieving the look you want. This also helps you understand how lighting and posing affect the result.

You will receive a secure online gallery to view your images. From there, you can make your selections and choose any additional retouching services if required.

Once your final selections are edited, I will email you a download link. Your images arrive as one zip file: high-resolution JPEGs suitable for print and web, plus versions sized for websites and social media.

Yes. Selected images include natural retouching, such as skin tone balancing, flyaway hair control, and blemish removal. More extensive editing is available by request.

Yes. You may request black and white versions of your selected images at no additional cost.

Studio time is charged separately from image purchases. The base session fee covers your time in the studio, and you can then select and purchase images individually, with tiered pricing as you order more. Full pricing details are available on the ‘Image Prices’ page.

You receive a commercial usage licence for your selected headshots, which permits use on your own professional platforms, including websites, LinkedIn, social media, and promotional materials. Copyright remains with the photographer. If a third party (such as a publication, agency, or another business) wishes to use the images, a separate usage licence is required. This will incur an additional fee, which varies depending on the intended use, distribution, and reach. Please contact me for specific licensing terms.

Yes. I offer headshot photography for teams either on-location or at my studio. I can provide consistent lighting and styling to create a unified look across your team’s profiles.

Yes, though these are weather-dependent and subject to different session logistics. Environmental headshots can be useful for a more relaxed or contextual brand image. Please enquire to discuss location options.

I recommend updating your headshot every 18–24 months, or sooner if your appearance changes significantly or you shift your professional direction.

Most product photography takes place in my studio near Woodbridge, Suffolk, where I can control the lighting and styling. I also offer on-location shoots if you need lifestyle or environmental setups.

If you need larger files, for a big print or a commercial use, just ask me. Additional licensing options are available if you need them, just ask.

Turnaround is typically 5 to 10 working days from the date full payment is received. If you have a specific deadline, just let me know. I’ll always try to accommodate where possible.
