How it works

Step 1

Booking.

You book your session date by paying the £100 non-refundable session booking fee. This secures studio time and covers the work that happens before you purchase any images, including preparation and gallery build.

Step 2

Shoot.

The session focuses on creating a range of portfolio-ready images, typically including clean headshots, three-quarter, and full-length frames across multiple looks. I will guide you throughout, particularly on posture, line, hands, and expression.

Step 3

Edited gallery.

After the shoot, I prepare a curated set of images in my Standard Edit style and upload them to your private online gallery. Please allow 14-21 days from the shoot date.

Step 4

Purchase and download.

You mark the images you want at £10 per image. I invoice you, and once that is settled I email you a download link for your digital files.

Booking terms and rescheduling

  • The £100 session booking fee is non-refundable.
  • If you need to reschedule, contact me as soon as possible, at least 24 hours before the shoot. Where I can, I will move the booking to a new date, subject to availability.
  • Your edited gallery is prepared after the shoot. Extra images are marked in the gallery and invoiced separately.

Usage and licensing

Purchased digital images from this service are intended for model portfolio use, including agency submissions and self-promotion on your own social media and website.

If you require commercial usage for a business, brand advertising, or paid campaign work, that sits outside this pricing and needs a separate licence and quote.

FAQs

It depends on your goal. If you are building a portfolio from scratch, you will usually want a balanced set across expressions and framing. If you are updating an existing portfolio, fewer images can be enough. I am happy to advise once you have seen the gallery.

Yes. You are welcome to bring a chaperone. Under 18s must have a parent or guardian present.

Yes. I guide throughout, particularly on posture, angles, hands, and expression, and I will help you build variety without forcing anything unnatural.

You can upgrade individual images to Enhanced Retouch or Beauty Retouch. I keep portfolio work natural and consistent, so upgrades are best used sparingly and intentionally.

Yes. You can ask for as many images as you like, and you do not have to decide everything at once. Your private online gallery remains available for 12 months, so you can return at any time within that period to buy additional images as you need them.

No, not under this pricing. Business headshots and personal branding are separate services with different deliverables and usage.

The 7 Foundational Shots for Your Modeling Portfolio

Portrait of woman with brown hair and neutral expression.
Because first impressions deserve to be real.

The Headshot: A True Reflection of You

The headshot is the first thing a casting director sees, so it needs to represent you accurately. It is not about flattery or heavy styling. At my Bentwaters studio in Suffolk, I work to bring out your natural expression with clean, controlled lighting. Keep makeup minimal and hair simple. The image needs to look like you on your best day, not a version of you no one would recognise in person.

Because agencies need to see the whole you.

The Full-Length Shot: A Showcase of Your Physique

A full-length shot shows your proportions, posture, and how you carry yourself. It is a standard part of any model portfolio because it gives the viewer the complete picture, not just your face. At my Bentwaters studio I shoot these against a clean background, usually in something fitted and simple, so nothing distracts from your shape and stance. Good posture matters here more than anywhere else.

Strike a pose. Tell your story.

The Fashion Shot: Flaunt Your Style and Attitude

Fashion shots let you show range. The brief is broader than a headshot: different outfits, different attitudes, different ways of working to camera. I work with you throughout to get real movement and engagement rather than stiff poses. The studio can handle a range of looks, and if you have a specific fashion brief in mind, bring it.

Soft light. Strong presence. Pure you.

The Beauty Shot: Celebrating Your Natural Allure

Beauty shots focus tightly on your face, skin, and hair. They show how you photograph with more considered styling, and how well your features hold up under close inspection. I light these shots carefully to bring out texture and tone without harsh shadows. If you work with a makeup artist, this is the shot to book them for.

Where fashion meets feeling.

The Editorial Shot: Telling a Story Through Emotion

Editorial work is about telling a story in a single frame. The mood, the lighting, and your expression all contribute to an image that goes beyond a simple portrait. I enjoy this kind of work because it allows more creative latitude. If you have references or concepts in mind, bring them. If not, we can build something together in the session.

From swimwear to sportswear. Confidence always shows.

The Confidence Shot: Fitness, Form, and Self-Assurance

Whether in simple underwear, a classic swimsuit, or fitness activewear, this style of shot is about showing physical confidence and natural body lines. These images highlight strength, poise, and comfort in your own skin. They work well in portfolios that need to show range and versatility beyond dressed looks.

The kind of image brands want and audiences trust.

The Commercial Shot: Approachable and Relatable

Commercial shots need to feel real. The person in the image should look approachable, natural, and credible, not posed or distant. Brands use this kind of photography to sell a feeling as much as a product, so the image needs warmth and a sense that you are genuinely connected to what you are doing. I direct these loosely so the result reads as natural rather than performed.

What is a Model Card

A model card is a clean, industry-standard profile that gives agencies and casting directors a quick and accurate overview of your look. It includes your basic information, key measurements, and a small set of simple images that show your features clearly. For the model card, I photograph a straightforward headshot, a front-facing full body shot, and both side profiles. These are normally done in sportswear or a bikini so your physique, proportions, and posture can be seen without distraction.

I design the final card for you using these images, along with photographs from your session if appropriate. You will receive a digital version that you can submit directly to agencies or attach to casting applications. It is a practical, professional tool for anyone building or updating an agency-ready modelling portfolio.

Model portfolio composite with measurements and portraits

I have worked with a lot of models at my studio in Bentwaters, Woodbridge, Suffolk, and one thing that consistently makes a difference is variety. A strong portfolio does not rely on one great image. It shows range. Below are the seven shot types I include in most model portfolio sessions, and why each one earns its place.

Build a Portfolio That Works

A model portfolio needs to show range without looking scattered. Each shot should earn its place, and the set as a whole should tell an agency something clear about who you are as a model. That is what I focus on in these sessions: images that are actually useful, not just flattering.

Get in Touch Before You Book

If you are ready to book, or want to discuss whether this service is right for you, get in touch first. I am happy to talk through what you need and make sure the session is planned to give you the most useful set of images.

If you have not done a studio shoot before, what happens at a shoot walks through the whole thing, from what to bring to what happens to the images afterwards. The staying safe page covers what you are entitled to ask of any photographer, me included.

STUDIO SHOOT

The studio is located at Bentwaters Parks, 10 miles east-northeast of Ipswich, near Woodbridge, Suffolk, and is very easy to find. There is no time limit for a studio session but it usually takes 2 to 4 hours. There is ample parking, and facilities include a changing room.
