I am here to answer all your model portfolio photography questions
Here is a list of frequently asked questions about model portfolio photography at my studio. If your question isn’t covered here, feel free to contact me.

There is ample parking at the studio. The entrance has two steps, which is worth knowing if you have any mobility considerations. If you have specific access needs, please get in touch before your session and I’ll do what I can to help.
Yes. You’ll need to bring your own outfits, as I don’t supply clothing. If you’d like to include props such as hats, scarves, bags, toys for younger children, or musical instruments, bring those along too. They can add character and variety to the session.
I’d suggest bringing at least six different outfits to give the session real variety. Around ten gives you even more options and flexibility. The more looks you bring, the wider the range of images we can create.
Yes. I’ll send you this form before the shoot so you can choose and define what you’re looking for.
Yes. I don’t provide makeup artists or stylists for model portfolio sessions, as it keeps costs as low as possible. If you’d like an MUA or stylist, that can be arranged at an additional cost agreed in advance.
Sessions typically run for two to three hours, though there’s no strict time limit. If you’d like to see what a model portfolio shoot looks like, I have some behind-the-scenes YouTube videos you can watch beforehand.
The standard package includes seven edited digital images. Additional edited images are available at £30 each.
There are changing facilities, a makeup area, and toilets.
Yes. I carry both professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
I regularly update the blog and website, and I enter competitions and work towards photographic qualifications from time to time. I may want to use some of your images for these purposes, but I’ll always ask for your permission and obtain a model release from you first. If you’d prefer your images not to be used in this way, that’s completely fine.
Because of storage costs, images are kept for up to one year after your session. If you haven’t viewed or ordered within 30 days of receiving your files, they will be deleted.
Under UK law, specifically the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, copyright in any photograph belongs to the photographer. As the photographer, I retain all copyright ownership over the images taken during the session.
Can I copy or scan the images?
Copying or scanning the images without written permission constitutes an infringement of copyright law. If you’d like to discuss using the images in a particular way, please get in touch.
Do you offer digital packages for non-commercial use?
Yes. I offer digital packages that allow you to share your images on a non-commercial basis. The photographs in these packages are for personal use and may not be sold or used commercially without prior agreement.
Can I sell these images to a third party?
No, not without a licence agreement. If you wish to sell or use the images commercially, a formal licence agreement must be negotiated and the appropriate fee paid beforehand.
Yes. All sessions are scheduled in advance at a time that suits you. You can book via my online calendar, or give me a call and I’ll sort something out.
No. If you’re under 18, a parent or legal guardian must be present throughout the session.
Yes, and I actively encourage it. Bringing a friend, family member, or someone you trust is completely normal and always welcome. I’d recommend that anyone shooting with a photographer for the first time brings someone with them. If a photographer ever discourages you from bringing a chaperone, or refuses to allow one, treat that as a significant warning sign. There is no legitimate professional reason for a photographer to object to a chaperone being present. I should also mention: I don’t physically touch models during a shoot. If a posing adjustment is needed, I’ll describe it verbally or demonstrate from a distance. That’s a standard I hold to with every session.
Once the session is complete, I’ll set up a secure, password-protected online gallery where you can view and share your images. This is usually ready within two weeks of the shoot. You can then browse and choose at your own pace from home.
Yes. You can purchase as many edited images as you’d like. I don’t release unedited files.
No. I’ll always do my best to produce images you’re happy with, but if you feel the images don’t meet your expectations, there’s no obligation to buy.
Yes. My main backgrounds are white and grey, and I can accommodate other colours on request. There may be an additional charge for this.
Yes. I have extensive experience in image editing and can remove or adjust many things. Let me know on the day, or get in touch beforehand if you’d like to discuss anything specific. One thing I will say: I won’t remove a blemish that I consider part of your natural appearance.
Makeup and personal presentation are down to you. I can offer advice if asked, but all choices about how you look are yours to make. If there’s something you want to check or change during the shoot, just say so and we’ll pause. I’d suggest looking over your appearance carefully at the start of the session so we’re both happy before we begin.
