What to Wear & Bring for Your Model Portfolio Shoot

A strong portfolio shows your range. We want a spread of looks, clean, simple images that show your shape and features, alongside one or two styled, fashion-led sets.

Agencies and clients look through a book quickly. They want to see the real you clearly, then proof you can carry a styled look. So we shoot both, keep the wardrobe working for you, and build a set that opens doors.

Start here

The basics

Range is everything

Bring fitted basics that show your figure, plus one or two styled looks. A strong portfolio shows breadth, not one note.

Orange t-shirt icon with short sleeves

Pack seamless underwear

Nude, seamless underwear and a strapless option mean nothing shows under your clothing and the lines stay clean.

Brown abstract arrow or directional symbol pointing right

Bring heels

Heels change your posture and your line. Even a simple set looks different when your stance lifts.

Orange coffin icon with rounded corners

Natural, plus a bolder look

Simple, natural beauty makeup covers most of a portfolio. Add a bolder look if you want to show more range.

Mind the marks

Avoid tight socks or elastic before the shoot, so there are no marks pressed into your skin when we start.

Wardrobe

What to wear

Great choices

Fitted plain top or bodysuit

A tailored styled look

Denim with a simple top

Also fine

A fitted knit

A clean V-neck

Best avoided

Big logos or slogans

Over-busy prints

Baggy shapes that hide your form

Colours that work

A spread works best. Clean neutrals, a crisp light, a strong dark, and one bold colour to bring a set to life.

Good to know

Questions models ask

I am new to modelling. Will you help me pose?

Yes, fully. I direct throughout, show you what works for your shape, and we build the poses together. You do not need experience, just a willingness to try things.

Do I need hair and makeup done beforehand?

Come camera-ready with simple, natural makeup, and bring your kit to adjust between looks. If you would like a professional makeup artist for the session, tell me when you book and I can point you to people I work with.

I am under 18. Can I still book?

Yes, with a parent or guardian present for the whole session. That is a firm requirement for anyone under 18, and it keeps the shoot comfortable and above board for everyone.

How many looks will we get through?

Enough to build a varied book. Bring several outfits and we will work through as many as time allows, mixing clean simple sets with one or two styled looks so your portfolio shows real range.
