Product Photography in Suffolk
If you sell online, or your products go into a brochure or catalogue, the photographs do most of the selling. I photograph products at my studio at Base Business Park in Rendlesham, near Woodbridge, for makers and brands across Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire.
What I photograph
Most things, in practice. I have photographed bottles, cans and glasses, food, clothing and accessories, jewellery, cosmetics, printed materials, and small machined and technical parts. The same studio can produce a clean packshot on white, a flat lay, or a styled image with props on a darker set.
Reflections are often the main technical challenge with jewellery, glass and polished packaging. I adjust the lighting and camera position carefully so the shape and surface of the product stay clear, rather than showing a reflection of the studio.

On white, on colour, or in context
White is my standard background. It suits online shops and marketplace listings, where every image needs to sit alongside the others. I can also shoot on a coloured background if you have something particular in mind.
Some products look better in use, or styled in a setting, than on a plain backdrop. If you are not sure which suits yours, ask. I will tell you what will give you the most usable images for where they are going, whether that is your website, an online shop, social media or print.
How a product shoot works
- A conversation firstBefore the shoot I talk through your products, your brand and where the images will be used. That way the lighting and setup are planned before you arrive.
- The shootBring as many products as you like. Sessions can run up to four hours, though most product shoots take one to two.
- ChoosingYou look through the results in a password-protected online proofing gallery and pick the images you want.
- EditingEach chosen image is edited individually for colour accuracy, tone, contrast, detail and background. That finishing work is a large part of what you are paying for.
- DeliveryYou receive high-resolution files for print and smaller versions for web and social media, with a licence covering your website, social media and print.
Large ranges and awkward products
The standard session suits most small and medium product ranges. For a large catalogue, many variations of the same item, reflective or transparent products, or work that needs specialist lighting or more advanced retouching, I quote individually. Send me as much detail as you can and I will come back with a price.
If you need your premises and staff photographed as well as your products, my commercial photography service covers that. You can see more examples in my product photography portfolio, and there is more about the studio at Bentwaters on its own page.
