Portrait photographer in Suffolk
Studio at Bentwaters, near Woodbridge. Portraits on location across Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire.
I’m a portrait photographer based near Woodbridge in Suffolk. I make natural, considered portraits of people, in the studio or on location across the county. Whether you want a striking studio portrait, a relaxed personal sitting, or something more creative, the aim is the same: an image that actually looks like you.
I have been photographing professionally since 2013 and have worked from my own studio since 2019. I picked it up at fourteen in a school darkroom, then spent years as a chef and served in the Royal Navy before photography became the job. I am a member of the SWPP and the RPS.
What a portrait session involves
Every session starts with a conversation about what the photographs are for and how you’d like to come across. In the studio there’s professional lighting and a range of backdrops; on location we can use somewhere that means something to you. Nothing is rushed. We take the time to get portraits you’re genuinely pleased with, and you’ll see the images before you choose your favourites.
Types of portrait I photograph
Studio portraits
Controlled lighting and a clean or characterful backdrop, for a clean, professional result.
Personal portraits
Relaxed, natural sittings that show who you are, for yourself, as a gift, or to mark a milestone.
Creative and editorial
More ambitious, styled shoots, with dramatic lighting and a concept to build around.
Who portraits are for
People marking a birthday or milestone, creatives and performers building a portfolio, couples wanting something beyond a snapshot, and anyone who simply wants a proper photograph of themselves. If you’re not sure which kind of session fits, get in touch and we’ll work it out together.
Where the sittings happen
The studio is at Unit 5 Allied House, Base Business Park in Rendlesham, on the old RAF Bentwaters site near Woodbridge. There is professional lighting, a range of backdrops, somewhere to change and free parking directly outside. It is about fifteen minutes from Woodbridge and thirty from Ipswich.
If the studio is not right for what you have in mind, I photograph on location across Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire. The booking fee for a location sitting is £100 rather than £80.
Pricing and booking
You pay an £80 booking fee to hold the date. That is not an extra on top, it comes off your total when you choose your images.
Edited digital images start at £30 each and the price drops as you order more, down through £25, £20 and £15 a copy. There are packages if you already know roughly what you want: £110 for one image, £170 for three, and £280 for seven.
A sitting runs up to three hours, with room for several changes of clothes and a choice of backdrops. Everything goes into a private password-protected gallery afterwards, open for eight weeks, and you buy only the photographs you actually want. Each edited image comes as a high resolution file, a smaller version sized for web and social, and a full personal print licence. Full pricing is on the portrait rates page.

The booking fee is £80 in the studio, or £100 on location, and it comes off your total rather than being added to it. Edited digital images start at £30 and get cheaper the more you order. Packages are £110, £170 and £280.
