What to Wear & Bring for Your Personal Branding Shoot
Your personal branding photos are the face of your business, on your website, LinkedIn and socials. The aim is images that look like you: approachable, credible and consistent with the brand you are building.
People decide whether to trust a business in seconds, and often your photo is the first thing they see. So we shoot a range that feels like the real you at work, then cover the crops and formats your brand needs, so everything looks like it belongs together.
Start here
The basics
Bring three or four looks
One smart, one relaxed, and something in between. A range means your brand photos never look repetitive across a website and a feed.
Think about the crops
We shoot with square, portrait and wide crops in mind, so your images drop straight into a header, a profile and a post.
Bring your props
A laptop, your product, or the tools of your trade. Props ground the photos in what you actually do.
Keep patterns subtle
Busy patterns pull the eye off you and date quickly. Simple keeps the focus where it belongs.
Press and hang
Steam or iron everything the night before, and bring your options on hangers so they arrive ready to wear.
Wardrobe
What to wear
Great choices
Blazer over a plain top
Crisp collared shirt
Simple crew-neck knit
Also fine
A gentle V-neck
Textured jumper
Best avoided
Busy, distracting patterns
Large logos or slogans
Anything too casual for your brand
Colours that work
Navy, grey and warm earth tones photograph beautifully. Work your brand colours in through one piece or an accessory rather than head to toe.
Checklist
What to bring
Three or four outfits on hangers
Brand props or products
Hairbrush and touch-up makeup
A drink and a snack
At the studio
My studio is at Base Business Park in Rendlesham, about 15 minutes from the A12, with plenty of free parking. There is a private changing room, a mirror to get ready, and toilets on site.
Good to know
Questions people ask
I hate being photographed. Will you help me?
Almost every client says the same thing, so you are in good hands. I direct throughout, keep it relaxed and conversational, and we build to the natural, confident frames rather than stiff ones.
How many looks should I bring, and how are they used?
Three or four is ideal. One smart, one relaxed, and something in between gives you a mix for your website header, your profile photo and a run of social posts, all clearly the same brand.
Can we shoot at my workplace instead of the studio?
Yes. Your own workspace can add real context to branding photos. The studio gives full control of the light and a clean, consistent look. Tell me what suits your brand and we will plan it.
Can you supply the right crops for LinkedIn and my website?
Yes. We shoot with the end use in mind, so you get square, portrait and wide options ready for a profile photo, a website banner and everything in between.
