Valentine-themed Studio model portfolio shoot with Leah
Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is nearly here, and this recent shoot with Leah was loosely built around the theme of red for the 14th of February. Leah is looking to build her modelling portfolio and we always have great fun working together. This time we wanted a range of looks so the images would be as useful as possible.
I really enjoy portfolio shoots because the model and I build a look together and work towards better results as a team. Modelling is far from easy, and I have real respect for anyone willing to step in front of the camera and radiate confidence. Leah does exactly that, which makes my job much easier. The more you model, the more relaxed you become, and that tends to show in the images. Not everyone is going to be the next supermodel, but there are plenty of opportunities for those who build a strong portfolio and body of work. If you want to become a model, working regularly with the same photographer is a good way to build confidence and a solid working relationship. It takes hard work and determination too, as the competition is strong. I am always happy to shoot on location, but more often than not it is more productive to use my Suffolk studio, where lighting, backdrops and props can all be prepared ahead of time.
