A shoot involving a model, a makeup artist, and a photographer works best when all three click, and that was the case here with model Roksana A. Foltyn and makeup artist Andżelika Kurek.
We met through East Coast Creatives (ECC), a group of artists who collaborate on photography shoots each month. We got on straight away and decided to work together on a model portfolio shoot. Roksana needed a range of images for her portfolio, and Andżelika needed professional photographs for her makeup business website and social media.
Andżelika Kurek is a bridal makeup artist based in Norwich, covering wedding and occasion makeup, photo session makeup, and makeup lessons. Her work is superb, and every face she prepares is ready for the camera. There is more of it on her Facebook page.
Roksana was a pleasure to work with. She is a natural in front of the camera and moved through poses with ease, which makes my job easier and the results better. Part of my role is putting a model at ease so they can do exactly that.
We wanted plenty of images that suited both of them, usable across portfolios, promotional material, and social media. To help, I sent Andżelika a few sample images beforehand so she knew the look we were after, and she matched it exactly.
A portfolio shoot is a good way to build a body of work and gain experience, and it gives a model and a makeup artist a practical way to show what they do. We are already planning the next one. You can see more of my work in my portrait portfolio.
