Working from my studio in Bentwaters, Suffolk, I photograph a wide range of clients, each with their own requirements. One that stood out was a recent job for Stalsen, a British manufacturer of safety gloves. The brief was product photography of the gloves, plus a hero shot for promotional use.
Online, product photography does a lot of the selling. Clear, high-quality images show a product properly and help people decide, and good ones also carry something of the brand behind it.
Stalsen is not your average glove maker. Over more than 30 years the company has built a reputation for tailor-made safety solutions rather than off-the-shelf gloves. Its aim is to make hand injuries a thing of the past, working closely with partners to find and address the root causes. Hands are treated as an indispensable tool worth protecting, and that care and attention to detail needed to come through in the photographs.
In the studio the focus was on the product and the thinking behind it. The hero shot in particular had to speak to Stalsen’s commitment to prevention, safety, and a clear understanding of what their clients need.
The result was a set of crisp, clean images showing the detail that goes into each glove, and inviting a closer look at the care behind it. Done well, product photography carries a brand’s story and shapes how people see it, and this job was a good reminder of that.
