This was the seventh shoot I have done with Mariana and each time we work together the results feel stronger and more refined. The trust and understanding built up over multiple sessions means we can experiment more, push ideas further, and know that both of us are on the same page. For models, working with the same photographer is invaluable because it allows them to grow in confidence, try out different looks, and build a portfolio that shows genuine variety while maintaining a consistent quality. Each shoot becomes a step in developing their presence in front of the camera and exploring new ideas with a sense of familiarity. For photographers, working with the same model is just as rewarding. It gives the chance to test lighting setups, explore posing techniques, and dive into more creative concepts without starting from the beginning every time. That familiarity removes barriers and helps both the model and photographer focus on creativity rather than explanation, which means more energy goes into making strong images.
Building a Versatile Portfolio
This studio shoot was carefully planned to deliver polished and versatile portraits for Mariana’s portfolio. The goal was to show a wide range of styles, moods, and characters, demonstrating just how much variety can be created in one session when there is trust and creative collaboration.
Look One – Warm and Elegant
The first look was warm and elegant. Mariana wore a mustard brown form fitting top against a deep brown backdrop which created a beautiful tonal harmony. The simplicity of the styling drew attention to her striking gaze and profile. This set had an editorial feel and conveyed quiet confidence and strength without distraction.
Look Two – Effortless and Modern
For the second look we shifted into a more modern and effortless style with a crisp white shirt. The relaxed fit and casual pose softened the mood and created portraits that felt approachable and contemporary. Adding some movement in the hair added to the natural energy of the shots and the clean simplicity of the shirt ensured the focus stayed on expression and personality.
Look Three – Bold and Edgy
The third look brought a bold and edgy tone. Mariana wore a black leather corset top paired with trousers, immediately changing the atmosphere of the shoot. Against a darker backdrop and using clean studio lighting, the images conveyed power and fashion driven strength. Her posture, with hands on hips and a strong gaze into the camera, underlined confidence and presence. These portraits carried a striking dramatic quality and a sense of authority.
Look Four – Contemporary Classic
In the fourth look we returned to a contemporary classic style. A pale blue dress with a fitted design introduced softness and form in equal measure. The dress worked beautifully with the lighting to highlight shape and flow, producing portraits that sit comfortably within the tradition of classic studio portraiture but still with a modern freshness. The combination of light tones and sculptural elegance provided a balance to the previous dramatic set.
Look Five – Playful Vibrance
For the fifth look the session moved into playful vibrance with a satin orange slip dress. The bold colour instantly lifted the energy of the portraits, introducing warmth, openness, and a sense of joy. Mariana’s natural expressions and relaxed presence made this set approachable and full of personality. The simplicity of the styling allowed the vivid tone of the outfit and her character to shine through.
Look Six – Fun and Expressive
The final look was designed to end the session on a fun and expressive note. Wearing a bright blue dress, Mariana brought lively energy into the frame. Her playful poses, pulling at her hair and laughing, showed a carefree side that added variety and spontaneity to the shoot. These portraits captured her lively personality and underlined the importance of including expressive, character driven images in any portfolio.
Why I Enjoy Working with Mariana
Working with Mariana is always a pleasure. She is professional, energetic, and consistently eager to achieve the best results. Her makeup and hair are always prepared to a high standard and she brings enthusiasm into every session which makes the process smooth, creative, and enjoyable. The benefit of working together over several shoots has been the trust and shared understanding we have built which allows each new session to go further in terms of creativity and quality. This shoot in particular highlights just how much variety and depth can be achieved in the studio when both photographer and model share the same focus on creating images that are polished, versatile, and full of personality.
