It’s not every day that I can say I take inspiration from Harry Styles of One Direction but on this day we did just that. From the start, we (we being Catherine from Portobello East Coast, Halesworth, Suffolk and I) knew that we wanted to create something a little avant-garde, and Jake was the perfect model to help us achieve just this. The shoot itself was electric, there was an amazing atmosphere and despite it being Jake’s first time in front of a camera he really came into his own and we came away with some fantastic photos. Catherine brought along an impressive array of outfits and vintage clothing that were great fun to photograph.
Catherine needed images for her social media and knew that professional photography was the way forward. A good quality image looks much more effective than an out of focus, run of the mill photo taken on a phone that lacks professionalism. My studio in Bentwaters, Suffolk is set up perfectly for this type of shoot and I’m pleased to say we got a great selection of images, many of which are yet to be released. Fashion photography helps to communicate a brand’s story and promote the designers, or store’s, goods. Falling under the category of commercial photography, fashion photography has changed with the times and I hope my images convey a sense of modernity. Fashion photography could also fall under the guise of portraiture, however, I like to separate the two and treat them both differently, because in fashion photography the focus is on the clothes, not the person.
