I always enjoy working with someone who has a bright, vibrant personality, and Kristy was exactly that, full of energy and a pleasure to photograph.
I love classic portraiture, and my aim is always to capture the character of the person in front of me. I like images that are dark and moody, in the spirit of the old Dutch masters like Rembrandt, Johannes Vermeer, Frans Hals, Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Bruegel the Elder. Their work has shaped how I light and compose, and I try to make portraits that feel timeless.
For Kristy I went with a classical studio portrait. The studio gave me full control, so I used a mix of lighting and camera angles to build depth and dimension, and I was thrilled with the results.
