They say never to work with children and animals, but when I photographed Callum at the beginning of the month he proved that working with little ones can be an absolute pleasure. Callum had just turned one and his parents wanted to mark the occasion with a cake smash photo shoot- a first for me. Luckily I have a few disposable backdrops which I have used in the past for shoots that have proven messy so these came in rather handy! Surrounded by balloons, Callum wasn’t phased by the camera at all and soon got stuck into the cake, unsurprisingly! It only took around twenty minutes to get some great shots, and I’m sure you’ll agree that my job was made that bit easier Callum being such a photogenic little chap! With one cake smash shoot under my belt, I am thoroughly looking forward to working on more of the same in the future.
From the start to finish, this wedding was such a joy to be a part of. I was made to feel like one of the family at the bride’s mothers home and supplied with plenty of coffee while Emma got ready!
Emma’s gorgeous hair was created by her very talented brother Dean and Emma’s amazing bespoke dress was designed by Martin Dobson. He also came along in the morning to help, which was a really special touch. Martin told me he had a great time designing and making this dress and he felt it suited Emma’s personality perfectly.
Emma was driven to Shire Hall, Woodbridge in a classic VW camper van. I took this opportunity to get some shots with her sister, and with her father, who walked her down the aisle.
It was pretty obvious to everyone that this couple was so much in love, and this made for some great candid moments throughout the service and rest of the day.
I took advantage of the stairs at Shire Hall to get a great shot of all the guests together and had just enough time to take a quick snap of Emma and Joey in Joey’s stepdad’s Triumph TR6 before the guests all walked down the road together to The Crown at Woodbridge for the reception. This was a real highlight for me, and it produced one of my favourite candid shots of the day! As always, the Crown at Woodbridge’s food and service was impeccable, and everyone had a glorious time at their reception
The brilliant best man’s speech with a twist is something I’ll remember – the guests were
all given a URL to a youtube video with a wonderful compilation of the antics of the groom and best man over the years! Emma’s bridesmaids looked utterly resplendent and you only have to glance through the gallery to see the joy and emotion of their day.
This was a small intimate wedding with just their amazing family and close friends, so it was a real privilege for me to be a part of Emma’s and Joey’s big day. I love shooting weddings and events but if there is anything else you need photos for, I’m always open to new opportunities so please do get in touch for a chat about your requirements.
Every now and then I get asked to do a job and I have my expectations totally blown out of the water. Niall and Bryony’s wedding is a perfect example of this. They chose a simple registry office ceremony in the morning followed by an outdoor blessing with their friends and loved ones in the afternoon. This wonderful couple and their amazing families worked hard to pull off a fun DIY wedding, full of laughter and love.
I started my day in the chaos of Niall’s parents’ house as the bride and groom were welcoming friends and family. I then rode with them in the car to Ipswich Registry Office and it was nice to have a catch-up and hear their thoughts on the day ahead. They had an intimate ceremony with just their parents present and I was able to really focus on capturing the emotion of the occasion.
We headed back to the venue where the bride and groom split up to get ready for the second part of their day. The bride and her beautiful bridesmaids had their hair and makeup done in an attractive grade 2 listed property. The couple had asked me for plenty of unposed, natural shots and I had great fun using the unusual features and the fantastic light in the property to create photos I hope this couple will cherish for many years to come. I split my time between both parties (luckily next door to each other) and was able to capture some great moments of the groom alongside his cheeky and entertaining groomsmen too!
Luckily the weather held out and by the time the speeches were finished it brightened up and the guests were able to enjoy their drinks and food outside in the warm afternoon sun while playing vintage games.
I think you’ll agree that the sunset photo of the couple is pretty special, you can take a look at more examples of my recent work here. As they say, Teamwork makes the dream work. I wholeheartedly believe that. Every shoot has a lot going on behind the scenes and without having an amazing team behind me and working with me I would not be able to create so many fantastic and eye-catching images.
A recent photoshoot at Southwold beach is a great example of just that! It was time to test my new Magmod Wedding Light modifiers and what better time to do make the most of them than at sunset. For this shoot the beautiful Steffi was the perfect model to work with, we have done a great many projects together and I love working alongside her. The shoot on the beach was set up with Steffi looking inland with the sea to our back and the sunset over the fields. I love utilising natural light it helps create great depths of colour in photos but alongside natural lights, we had the 3 rd member of our team on hand, Steffi’s boyfriend who was a brilliant, as I like to say, V.A.L.S or voice activated light stand!
In keeping with behind the scenes of Foyers Photography, the final part of the team is my ever- present and wonderful wife Karen. Karen is a great help behind the scenes and assists me with a lot of my shoots always ready and aware when I need some assistance. She was actually doing some behind the scenes video on this shoot for my Youtube channel so If you want to know more about how my shoots work you can see the video here or of course let’s get something set up. You don’t have to watch from the sidelines. You can be the model.
The Magmod Wedding Light modifiers worked fantastically, and I am extremely pleased with the results! If you would like to take a look at any of my other portrait photography shoots make sure to click here.

When it comes to beautiful, handmade hair accessories then look no further than Jacqui Wisheart of Wisheart Tiara Design. Jacqui specialises in creating bespoke tiaras, combs and bridal accessories. Each intricate piece is made from the highest quality materials plated with precious metals such as copper, gold and silver and adorned semi-precious stones ranging from Swarovski crystals to freshwater pearls. Each and every one of Jacqui’s designs is a true showstopper, perfect for any bridal look, whether it be a traditional yet rustic wedding or, for the more alternative bride, a festival or boho style wedding. So whether you are a fairy-tale princess or a festival fairy you can rely on Wisheart Tiaras Design to create something magical for your big day.
I Recently had the pleasure of working alongside Jacqui and photographing some of her most recent pieces. Once again it was brilliant working with Melanie and Samantha from Innov8 Hair Studio in Saxmundham, Suffolk. I love working with them because I know that I can always trust them to come up with great hairstyles for every shot and they certainly didn’t disappoint. All three models where great fun to work with and had wonderful makeup done by the very professional and personable Victoria Bradfield.
The wedding hair styling of each model was orchestrated to further enhance the beauty of each tiara so we went for a mix of traditional, with Swarovski crystal tiaras and vines, followed by festival vibes using striking copper butterfly hair accessories, which photographed beautifully. All the shots were done on a clean white background for the main use on the Wisheart website and social media, this ensures that we take no focus away from the main feature – the tiaras.
This particular photoshoot was packed full of energy and fun and really gave me the opportunity to take some great shots! Last weekend was a fantastic day of family fun at the Rendlesham show 2018 and we were blessed with glorious sunshine and incredible entertainment all day. This is the first year that I have been booked to attend this wonderful and extremely well-organised event and there was such a friendly and energetic vibe among all of the volunteers and the crowds. The event was a great success and the hard work put in by the organisers was very clear to see, I could really feel the community spirit.
I love taking photos at shows like Rendlesham, you can really feel the excitement and see the strength of the bonds forged in organising all the different aspects of the show. This allows me to meet with some many interesting and colourful people from all walks of life and take some very fun and natural shots, especially with such a vast number of activities all happening at once; the fun fair, a dog show, a birds of prey show, the rock band project, local school children’s choirs and a great performance by the Chloe Kinrade School of Dance, my list really could go on! It really is the archetypal village show and the perfect fun day out for everybody.
It was such a busy and hot day, my commendations go out to all the organisers, volunteers and local Suffolk businesses. Without all their support, the show would not have been such a huge success and a great day was had by all.
I had a great day shooting at the show and I would love to return next year! I captured so many wonderful images that I have set up an online gallery. You can take a look here. All of the images are available to buy and download. If you find an image you like, high-resolution images are available for print, so just let me know and I will arrange this for you.
What a brilliant day! So, if you are in need of commercial photography or event photography, please do get in touch with me to organise a shoot. You can also take a look at my portfolio here.
