The Unveiling of The Red Rose Photoshoot: A Symphony of Collaboration in Suffolk

Photography is rarely a solitary craft. The Red Rose Photoshoot brought together hairstyling, makeup and floral design, and the result was a series of portraits none of us could have made alone.

The concept

Leah Louise of Leah Louise Floral Artistry set the theme and created the florals. Known for modern, romantic and unconventional designs, she built the look around beautiful red roses, aiming to present the flowers strikingly and to help women feel confident. She said the idea set off a “tornado of ideas”.

The model: Laura

Our model was Laura, owner of The Brow Empire, doing her first ever shoot. She had reservations about being in front of the camera, but you would never have known. In a black lace dress she looked composed and elegant. Afterwards she said, “Bob made me feel very confident and I can’t wait to do another shoot with him.”

The makeup

Emma of Emma Garrod Make-Up Artist handled the makeup with her natural approach, a soft smokey eye with a touch of sparkle and a bold red lip that matched the roses. She enjoyed how the team’s combined effort came through in the photographs.

The hair

Myah from Innov8 Hair Studio finished the look, styling Laura’s hair in elegant curls that added movement and showed off the colour.

Penelope

The shoot also had a twist: Penelope, the sausage dog. She added a bit of whimsy that suited the theme, and Laura was thrilled the photographs caught both of them at their best.

Final thoughts

What made this shoot work was the layering of different talents, Leah’s florals, Laura’s modelling, Emma’s makeup and Myah’s hair, all pulling in the same direction. The feedback from everyone said the same thing. As Leah put it, “What a team!” It is not just about taking pictures, it is about telling a story, and this one was told better together.
