Collaboration with Makeup Artist Courtney of Sweet FX and Model Isabelle
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of collaborating with makeup artist Courtney of Sweet FX and model Isabelle for a vintage water-themed photoshoot. As a photographer, I was excited to work with Courtney, who is a fantastic makeup artist and very talented. And I was fortunate to have Isabelle, who is a dear friend of mine and a model I’ve used for many shoots in the past, available to model for us.
The theme of the photoshoot was vintage water, and Courtney aimed for a moody and upset vibe in the makeup. She used a lot of oranges and pinks to achieve this look, which really added to the overall atmosphere of the shoot. We also wanted to incorporate a prop that would add an interesting and unique element to the photos. After some brainstorming, we decided on using a vintage bath as one of the props.
Incorporating a Prop: A Vintage Bath
We filled the bath with water that had a hole in it so the water would flow out and give the impression that the model was actually in the bath. This added a different dynamic to the shoot and really helped to bring the vintage water theme to life. However, it did come with its own set of challenges. The water went all over the studio and we had a bit of a mess to clean up at the end of the shoot. Despite this small hiccup, the photoshoot was an absolute success and we were able to get some beautiful and creative photos.
Looking to the Future
I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Courtney and Isabelle on this project. They were both professional and easy to work with, and I’m looking forward to doing many more shoots with them in the future.
