Every shoot has a lot going on behind the scenes, and without a great team around me I couldn’t create so many of the images I’m proud of. A recent shoot at Southwold beach is a good example.
It was time to test my new MagMod Wedding Light modifiers, and sunset was the perfect moment to make the most of them. Steffi was the ideal model. We’ve worked on many projects together and I always enjoy shooting with her. We set up on the beach with Steffi looking inland, the sea to our backs and the sun going down over the fields behind. I love using natural light for the depth of colour it gives, and alongside it we had the third member of the team on hand: Steffi’s boyfriend, my ever-reliable V.A.L.S, or voice-activated light stand.
The final part of the team is my wife Karen, who helps behind the scenes on many of my shoots and always knows when I need a hand. On this shoot she was filming behind-the-scenes video for my YouTube channel, so if you’d like to see how a shoot like this comes together you can watch it here. You don’t have to watch from the sidelines, though. You could be the model.
The MagMod Wedding Light modifiers worked brilliantly and I’m really pleased with the results. If you’d like to see more of my portrait work, take a look at my portfolios.
