The Southwold Sausage Dog Walk has become something of a local treasure – and now, it’s got a brand-new website to match. Created to celebrate the dachshund-loving community in Suffolk, the new Southwold Sausage Walk website is packed with useful information, fun content, and, for the first time, its very own branded merchandise.
Recently, I had the pleasure of working with Laura, the founder of this joyful project, to produce product photography for their newly launched line of accessories. And what better models for the job than Laura’s own sausages?
A Studio Session with Purpose
This shoot had two aims: clear, consistent product photography for the website, and engaging lifestyle images of the items being worn by real sausage dogs. Both elements were essential in helping potential customers visualise how the products would look and feel on their own pets.

Using a controlled studio environment near Woodbridge, I created a set of product images that showcase each item’s detail and build. These included:
- Adjustable collar with a sturdy buckle and soft backing
- Comfortable harness with breathable inner lining
- Durable lead with matching design
- Convenient poop bag holder, complete with clip
- Full matching sets, worn by real dachshunds during the shoot
Each item features a custom print that includes the Southwold Sausage Walk logo, paw prints, and an illustrated dachshund. It’s a design that dachshund fans will immediately recognise and love.
Why Visual Content Matters for Local Brands
Strong imagery makes all the difference on a modern e-commerce site. Whether you’re a multinational brand or a grassroots initiative like this one, good photography builds trust and tells your story.
Benefits of high-quality product photography:
- Builds professionalism – Your site looks polished and trustworthy.
- Increases conversion – Clear visuals help buyers make confident choices.
- Supports social media – Stylised content is ideal for Instagram, Facebook, and beyond.
- Tells a story – In this case, a story about community, charm, and sausages.
Behind the Scenes: Dogs on Duty
Photographing animals always brings a unique energy into the studio. Laura’s dachshunds were excellent ambassadors – patient, full of personality, and clearly proud to represent the brand. Capturing natural, expressive portraits of them wearing the gear added warmth and relatability to the product pages.
To get the best results, I focused on:
- Soft, directional lighting to enhance fur texture and product shape
- A warm brown backdrop to complement the dogs’ coats
- Posing that felt natural and comfortable for the dogs
- Detail shots to highlight fastenings, stitching, and logos
The aim was to blend professional polish with the charm and character dachshunds are known for.

From Shoot to Screen
Many of the images created during this session now feature on the Southwold Sausage Dog Walk website. They also provide a valuable content bank for Laura to use across social media and printed materials.
If you’re thinking of launching a product line, especially one so closely tied to your brand’s identity, investing in dedicated photography is one of the best decisions you can make. It gives your brand a unified look and makes every touchpoint, from Instagram posts to printed leaflets, feel cohesive.
A look at what was delivered:
| Item | Type of Shot | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Collar | Product and lifestyle | Website product page + socials |

Local Stories, Local Style
There’s something extra rewarding about supporting a project with deep local roots. The Southwold Sausage Dog Walk is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of community, dog-loving joy, and a touch of seaside charm. Helping them take the next step into merchandise with cohesive visuals has been a real treat.
And the best bit? Watching the photos come to life on the new website and social media platforms, where they’re already helping bring more attention to the project.
If you’re a small business or local initiative with a product range on the horizon, clear imagery can do more than just look good, it can tell your story, connect with your audience, and elevate your brand.
