Why actor headshots matter
In any profession, marketing yourself is how you get noticed. For actors, the actor headshot does exactly that: it’s a personal branding tool for getting hired.
Casting directors and agents use a headshot to decide whether an actor is right to audition for a production. It’s the first thing they see when casting a new role, which is why it’s so important.
A good headshot helps an actor stand out, so a high-quality photograph is well worth having when it comes to capturing your professional image.
Beyond casting, headshots are useful for other marketing too, from websites and business cards to online portfolios.
Part of my job is helping to capture an actor’s personality and energy across a set of headshots.
Ryan’s headshot shoot in Suffolk
My most recent headshot client was Ryan, a young actor after some new, up-to-date images.
Ryan had a brilliant attitude and was a pleasure to work with. He came along to my studio in Bentwaters, near Woodbridge, Suffolk, with his mum to chaperone.
A headshot shoot usually takes about an hour, but I never watch the clock. If we run over, that’s not a problem. Getting the right images and making sure the client is happy matters more than the time.
As a Suffolk photographer, I work with clients in and around the county on everything from portraits to commercial work.
My studio is a good spot for natural, high-quality headshots with professional lighting.
