I recently spent time in the studio with Leah, who was looking for photos to add to her modelling portfolio. This is an essential tool for models to gain work within the industry- think of it as a visual CV. Without a portfolio potential clients would be disinterested and you may miss out on castings. It is important that the shoot is dictated by the model so they get out of it exactly what they need, however, I am always happy to assist and suggest ideas for those just starting out, including guidance with poses and stances. What is required of myself and the model is always discussed prior to the session so we are both aware of how the shoot will go. A clear understanding goes a long way in achieving the results that you want from the shoot, and you are much more likely to walk away with photos that you love.
Since agencies tend to like portfolios that demonstrate the model’s versatility, it will usually consist of a headshot, portrait, full-length photo, fashionwear, fitness and swimwear if required. This means there is plenty of opportunity for multiple outfit changes and a variety of looks and styles. I can also assist in suggesting numerous make-up artists and hairdressers I have worked with before if this is something that you might require.
Whilst a session can last between 2 to 3 hours I never set a time limit and so there is no pressure on either party to get those required shots. I charge £200 for the session which includes 7 edited digital images. Extras can be purchased at £35 each, for more information click here. As always, if you have any questions do get in touch, or take a look at previous modelling portfolio photos on my website.
