I am Bob Foyers, a commercial photographer with a studio at Bentwaters, Woodbridge, Suffolk. Last week I worked for the second time with Bobbie Derrière, a burlesque performer, on a shoot themed around 1920s flapper style, fashion and glamour.
From the moment she arrived, Bobbie brought real professionalism and poise, and it showed in every pose and expression. The session ran smoothly and we came away with a varied, striking set of images.
Bobbie is using the photographs as promotional material for her upcoming shows, which is always rewarding to see. Her Google review meant a lot:
Bob is a master! I went in for a burlesque/boudoir photoshoot and not only did the photos come out more stunning than I could ever imagine but Bob makes the whole experience fun, comfortable and dynamic! I genuinely could not recommend Bob enough!
We also filmed some behind-the-scenes footage, which shows how a shoot like this comes together, from setting the lighting to choosing props. It is available to watch on YouTube.
The lavish costumes, bold makeup and stylish poses captured the era well, and the plain studio setting put all the attention on Bobbie’s artistry. The result is a set of images that feel both period-correct and timeless.
My thanks to Bobbie for a memorable session, and I look forward to the next one. You can see more of this kind of work in my portraits portfolio.
