Working with Roma is always a pleasure. She’s full of energy, a little cheeky but never rude, and her personality shines through every image. This was our second fitness photoshoot together, and once again, she brought her infectious character into the studio. Roma has been focusing a lot on her fitness this year. Alongside her music, she’s built incredible strength and confidence. She’s even been considering becoming a personal trainer, which feels like a natural step given how dedicated she is to her own training. The purpose of this session was to create fresh promotional images that she could use across her social media, both for her fitness journey and her singing career. As a photographer, I love sessions like this because they blend different sides of someone’s personality. These portraits needed to work for fitness promotion, but they also had to reflect Roma’s identity as a performer. That balance is what makes personal branding photography so rewarding.
How I First Met Roma
I first met Roma back in August 2022 at Suffolk Remembers, a remembrance event organised by St Elizabeth Hospice in Felixstowe. Roma was singing in public for the very first time. Her parents were with her, proud and supportive, and even then it was clear she had something special. Since then, we’ve worked together on different shoots. Every time we’ve collaborated, I’ve seen her confidence grow. She has a natural presence in front of the camera, and she always brings a spark that makes the session enjoyable.
Building Energy into the Shoot
Fitness shoots can sometimes look very serious, all about form and discipline. With Roma, the challenge was different. She already had the strength and focus, but I wanted to capture her character too, playful, dynamic, and full of life. We worked through a series of poses and looks, switching between strong athletic stances and more expressive portraits. She styled herself for the shoot, choosing a range of outfits from sleek black sportswear to bold colours like red and blue. Each look gave a different feel, but all of them captured her energy. Lighting was an important part of the shoot. I used a mixture of clean studio lighting and gel effects to add warmth and mood. This gave us both crisp, commercial-style images and more atmospheric portraits. The aim was to make sure the images could adapt across her platforms, from fitness updates to music promotion.
Fitness and Music, A Strong Combination
Roma is not just dedicated to fitness. She’s still very much focused on her singing, and she’s incredibly talented. Blending these two sides of her life meant the images needed to be versatile. Fitness imagery can sometimes feel too narrow for a personal brand, so I made sure to include softer portrait styles alongside the stronger, more powerful shots. This way, Roma has a collection of images that show different sides of her, performer, athlete, and young person building her future. That’s what personal branding photography is all about. It’s not just about how you look in a single moment, but how those images work to tell your story.
Why Personal Branding Photography Matters
For anyone building a career, whether it’s in fitness, music, or any other field, your visual presence matters. People see your image before they hear your voice or read your words. The right set of photographs can create trust, show professionalism, and make you memorable. That’s why I always encourage clients to think beyond a single theme. In Roma’s case, it would have been easy to only focus on fitness. But by widening the brief, she now has a set of images that can support both her training ambitions and her singing profile. If you’re interested in this type of session, I offer dedicated personal branding photography sessions. They’re designed to give you a collection of images that work across your website, social media, and promotional material.
A Bit About the Session
The shoot took place in my photography studio near Woodbridge, Suffolk. The controlled environment gave us flexibility with lighting and styling. Roma brought a great selection of outfits, from sports tops in bold colours to branded activewear. The mix of looks meant we could capture everything from expressive portraits to classic fitness poses. She handled the whole session like a professional, experimenting with poses, facial expressions, and movement. What I appreciate most about working with Roma is her willingness to try ideas. She has fun with it, and that makes all the difference. Here are a few highlights from the session: • Expressive portraits, soft lighting and close-up poses that capture her natural confidence. • Fitness stances, strong poses that highlight her athletic build and determination. • Creative colour work, using gels to add mood and depth, giving her images a modern edge. • Character shots, relaxed poses that reflect her cheeky personality. The result is a set of images that feel varied but cohesive, all tied together by her energy
Looking Ahead
Roma is one of those people who seems to have endless drive. Whether she becomes a personal trainer, continues developing her music, or balances both, she’s got the determination to make it work. I’m already looking forward to our next collaboration. Working with her is never dull, and I know we’ll keep creating images that push her brand forward.
Final Thoughts
This second fitness photoshoot with Roma was a reminder of why I enjoy portrait photography and personal branding photography. It’s not just about making someone look good, it’s about helping them build a presence that supports their goals. Roma’s energy, character, and talent made this session a joy. The final images are not only strong fitness portraits, but also versatile enough for her music career. That’s exactly what we set out to achieve.
