I absolutely love a themed photoshoot so when Hannah came to me looking to build up her portfolio to showcase her makeup artistry I was really excited. Hannah is studying makeup artistry at East Coast College, and we worked together on Pinterest to come up with ideas for the theme and feel of this shoot. Pinterest is great for collaborating on joint projects as you can create a mood board by easily sharing images. As always on a shoot like this I am led by the client and their ideas and vision. I then lend my technical know-how to transform these ideas into multiple photos. We used colour and texture to create an ethereal feel. This combined with soft lighting gave a sense of being underwater, suiting the mermaid-esque makeup Hannah had applied.
Alongside Hannah, we had Myah from Innov8 styling Molly and Tegan, our two models’, hair. Both girls were completely new to this as it was their first time being photographed in a professional studio. Despite this, they soon got over their nerves and did a fantastic job of modelling for Hannah and myself, really getting involved and making themselves proud.
Do you need to update your portfolio? Perhaps, like Hannah, you are new to the industry and need to start from scratch. Whether it be a portfolio showcasing makeup artistry, modelling or acting, with my commercial photography packages there’s something to suit everyone. It’s really important to me that you have overall input and say in the direction of the shoot. Whilst I’m always there to give opinions and assist in any way I can, the final look we are aiming to achieve is up to you.
