One of my favourite parts of the job is event photography, so I was pleased to be asked by Rendlesham Parish Council to photograph this year’s Rendlesham Show. It’s the second time I’ve covered it, and I enjoyed every minute.
It’s good to be in the middle of the atmosphere and watch the community come together to celebrate. This year’s theme was ‘All creatures great and small’, which is a fun idea for a carnival, festival or party. You really can’t go wrong with it.
The funfair started a little earlier this year, so I got some good action shots. Last year was blisteringly hot and I packed my sun cream; this time the weather wasn’t as kind, but as you can see it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits.
Rendlesham Parish Council does a fine job of making sure the day works for local residents and their friends and family. It’s no small task to organise and keep everything running like clockwork, and I’m happy to stay behind the camera.
Remember, there’s only ever one chance to capture an event. Once it’s over, the moment has passed for good.
