A Model Portfolio Photoshoot with Roma: The Importance of Professional Portfolios

As a photographer based in Suffolk, I work with a range of talented people. Roma is one of them, a 17-year-old singer-songwriter, and this session added to her growing model portfolio, shot at my studio.

Why Models Need a Strong Professional Portfolio

A portfolio is a model’s visual CV. It shows their range, character and versatility, and without it agencies struggle to see what a model can do. A good set of images captures that range and the ability to take on different roles, which is exactly what Roma wanted.

About Roma

Roma is not your everyday model. Alongside her striking looks, she is a singer-songwriter who has raised over £20,000 for local charities through her music, and she is a mental health and anti-bullying ambassador. You can hear her latest song, “LOVE LETTERS” Link Here.

Having photographed Roma several times, we already had a good rapport. When she arrived at my studio in Bentwaters, Suffolk, she was relaxed and ready to work. Her mother came as chaperone, which I insist on for under-18s and welcome for anyone.

Shooting a Model Portfolio: The Essentials

A portfolio shoot is not one-size-fits-all. It is built around the model’s range. The shot list usually covers a headshot, a full-length photo and a portrait that shows character, but it is about more than ticking boxes. The aim is imagery that reflects who the model is.

Working with Roma: An Experience to Remember

Working with Roma is always a pleasure. Her talent runs from her music into her modelling, where she works with real poise and intensity. Her portfolio is a set of images that show her many sides.

A portfolio is more than a collection of pictures. It is a visual record of who the model is and what she can do. Looking at Roma’s photographs, I am reminded of her passion and her commitment to making a difference.

As a photographer, I could not be more proud.
