From start to finish, this wedding was a joy to be part of. I was made to feel like one of the family at the bride’s mother’s home, kept well supplied with coffee while Emma got ready.
Emma’s hair was created by her very talented brother Dean, and her bespoke dress was designed by Martin Dobson, who came along in the morning to help too, a really special touch. Martin told me he’d loved designing and making the dress and felt it suited Emma’s personality perfectly.
Emma was driven to Shire Hall, Woodbridge in a classic VW camper van, which gave me the chance to photograph her with her sister and with her father, who walked her down the aisle. It was obvious to everyone how much in love this couple were, and that made for some lovely candid moments through the service and the rest of the day.
I used the stairs at Shire Hall for a shot of all the guests together, then grabbed a quick photo of Emma and Joey in Joey’s stepdad’s Triumph TR6 before everyone walked down the road to The Crown at Woodbridge for the reception. That short walk gave me one of my favourite candid shots of the day. As always, the food and service at the Crown were impeccable, and everyone had a glorious time.
The best man’s speech came with a twist: guests were given a URL to a YouTube video, a wonderful compilation of the groom and best man’s antics over the years. Emma’s bridesmaids looked wonderful, and you only have to glance through the gallery to see the joy of the day.
This was a small, intimate wedding with close family and friends, so it was a real privilege to be part of Emma and Joey’s big day. I love photographing weddings.
