On a crisp December morning I arrived at Thorpe End Village Hall in Norwich, Norfolk for the East Coast Creatives Christmas photoshoot. I was looking forward to a day with other creatives and plenty of festive ideas to shoot.
The hall is a friendly community space in the heart of the village, with a spacious main hall and countryside all around it, which made a lovely setting. Walking in, I found a busy room of photographers, models and makeup artists all getting ready for the day.
East Coast Creative is a group of photographers, models and makeup artists who love making good portraits together. They run regular events and workshops for all levels, and this one was open to everyone. It was a great chance to network, swap ideas and learn from each other.
I set up and scouted spots around the hall. The rolling hills, quaint houses and village church all offered lovely backdrops. As the day went on we worked through a range of festive sets, from models dressed as Santa’s elves to a winter wonderland scene complete with fake snow. The makeup artists transformed each model beautifully.
I worked with models across the day, from seasoned professionals to keen amateurs, and everyone supported each other. As the light faded I packed up and headed back to my studio at Bentwaters, Suffolk, keen to start editing.
It was a fantastic day. The location, the festive theme and the talented people all came together, and I left feeling inspired for the next portrait session.
