Personal branding photography is one of my favourite kinds of work, so when David at Lift, Southwold asked me to shoot some for him, I was glad to say yes. The photos needed to capture autumn and winter, ready for social media in the run-up to Christmas. I enjoyed working with David (and his dog), and I hope I’ve given him what he was after.
Lift is a home and lifestyle store in the Suffolk coastal town of Southwold. Bold pops of colour make the shop stand out, and David says he’s guided not just by colour but by how well a product works; everything has to be well designed and built to last. Around 60% of what the shop sells is designed and made by Lift, including bags, homeware and stationery.
David doesn’t just sell bright, well-made products; he’s set on giving something back. His ‘Lift it forward‘ campaign is a lovely idea. Every 200th customer is given £5 to pass on, along with a postcard to send back telling the shop how they spent it. Favourites include donations to charity and sponsoring someone doing something good, though it can be as simple as treating a friend who’s had a hard time, or buying a stranger a cake.
For anyone already thinking about Christmas, David is also launching Lift’s own charity Christmas cards in support of Access Community Trust, Lowestoft, who work all year round to support people in need.
