As a photographer, there’s nothing quite like a classical portrait photoshoot to get the creative juices flowing. And when I have the pleasure of working with someone like Roma, it’s an even more enjoyable experience.
Roma is a beautiful young lady with a lot of energy and talent. Not only is she a joy to be around, but she’s also a very talented singer and I have no doubt that she’ll be famous one day. In fact, I’m already looking forward to the opportunity to work with her again in the future.
For this particular photoshoot, we decided to utilize a lighting technique called Rembrandt lighting. This style is named after the famous Dutch painter Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, who was known for using this technique in his portrait paintings.
So, what is Rembrandt lighting? Essentially, it’s a lighting setup that involves placing a strong light source on one side of the subject’s face, creating a triangle of light underneath the eye on the shadow side. This creates a natural and dramatic contrast, highlighting the subject’s features and giving the image a sense of depth and dimension.
One of the things I love about Rembrandt’s lighting is that it’s a great way to express creativity and add a touch of drama to a photograph. It’s a versatile technique that can be used in a variety of settings, from formal portraits to more casual headshots.
For our photoshoot with Roma, we used Rembrandt lighting to highlight her beautiful features and create a sense of mood and atmosphere. Roma was full of energy and was a lot of fun to work with, and the end result was a series of stunning portraits that really captured her unique personality and spirit.
