As a professional photographer, I am privileged to be a part of dynamic and innovative projects. One such unique venture was with SweetFX, led by the rising makeup artist Courtney Rains. We recently collaborated on an unforgettable photoshoot, portraying the compelling theme of humans being “wired differently”. This daring and slightly unsettling concept was aimed at engaging an audience that finds appeal in profound visual narratives.
Conceptualizing the Unconventional
Courtney and I spent a significant amount of time brainstorming this electrifying concept. Our goal was to present a shocking yet intriguing perspective on beauty. It wasn’t about shocking for the sake of shock but rather emphasizing the profound idea that everyone is wired differently.
Makeup: An Electrifying Statement
Aligned with our theme, Courtney’s makeup design was an imaginative representation of the aftermath of an electrical shock. The addition of an incorrectly wired plug and wire further highlighted the theme, creating a visually stimulating paradox. This image showcases SweetFX‘s audacious approach to makeup artistry.
Francesca: The Living Canvas
The success of our shoot would not have been possible without our model, Francesca. Her understanding and portrayal of the theme added depth to the images, showing her ability to embody such complex concepts.
Eyes on the Future
These creative shoots are a stepping stone for Courtney as she builds a versatile portfolio for her transition into film and TV makeup. We have a few more shoots planned before Courtney’s university journey begins, promising more opportunities for boundary-pushing creativity.
Conclusion
This photoshoot with SweetFX marks a significant milestone in my journey as a commercial photographer. As Courtney and I continue to collaborate, we aim to constantly challenge the norm and reinvent beauty standards, one photo shoot at a time.
