Why I Don’t Supply RAW Files
What a RAW File Actually Is
A RAW file is like a digital negative, it’s the untouched image data straight from the camera. On its own, it isn’t a finished photo. It needs to be processed, balanced, and refined before it becomes the polished image you see in your gallery.
Much like a chef wouldn’t serve raw ingredients before cooking the meal, a RAW file is simply the starting point of the creative process.
The Editing Makes the Difference
Every photograph that leaves my studio has been carefully edited to look its best. I make sure the colours are right, the lighting feels natural, and the overall image reflects the atmosphere we created during your session.
That editing process is where the image really comes to life, it’s what gives it the look and quality that clients book me for.
Why RAW Files Aren’t Shared
There are a few good reasons why I don’t provide RAW files:
- They’re unfinished: RAW files aren’t ready to use. They’re large, unprocessed, and can only be opened with specialist software.
- They don’t represent my work: Editing is a huge part of what makes each image unique. Unedited files don’t reflect the standard or style I aim for.
- You’ll get better results: The finished JPEGs you receive are ready to use across print, web, and social media, all optimised for your specific needs.
What You’ll Receive Instead
You’ll get fully edited, high-quality JPEGs that are colour-corrected, beautifully refined, and sized perfectly for how you want to use them, whether that’s your website, social media, or printing.
Every file is ready to go, and you don’t have to worry about file types or conversion. Just enjoy your images and share them however you like.
In a Nutshell
The final images you receive are the best version of what we created together. I want you to have photographs that look their best and are simple to use, that’s why I handle the technical side, and you get the finished results.
