On Saturday 6th September 2025, I met with three models in the centre of Norwich for a street shoot with a twist. The theme was simple but effective: glamour in the streets. We wanted polished looks, striking poses, and a sense of drama set against the city’s historic and urban backdrops.
We gathered outside Starbucks near Primark, and from there explored a mix of Norwich landmarks. The Forum, the Undercroft Gallery, Norwich City Council building, the Guildhall, Pottergate, the underpass, and St Benedicts Street all became part of the shoot. Each space offered different textures, colours, and moods.
Working with Jen, Adam, and Vanessa, alongside Cin on the cameras, I wanted to balance individuality with cohesion. Every model brought their own style, yet together their looks tied perfectly into the concept of glamour meeting street energy.
Jen – Gothic Elegance with a Modern Edge
Jen carried a gothic-inspired presence that stood out instantly. Her wardrobe was built around a palette of deep black tones, creating strong silhouettes and refined detail.
- Look One: A fitted long-sleeve top and wide-legged trousers paired with a tightly laced corset. The corset gave her shape a sharp, architectural line, setting a mood that felt both strong and elegant.
- Look Two: A short, flared black dress with a tailored jacket. This softened the look, adding movement and a hint of playful femininity.
Her jet-black hair with a defined fringe framed her face dramatically. Strong eyeliner and bold lips completed the aesthetic, enhancing her gaze whether directed upwards in confidence or softened into quieter moments.
Jen’s tattoos became part of the story, visible against her pale skin and emphasised by monochrome styling. They added personal narrative and a texture that made each frame more layered.
Norwich’s architecture amplified her aesthetic. The historic stone and castle walls echoed her gothic tones. Graffiti walls gave her styling a raw, urban contrast. A vivid pink backdrop flipped the mood entirely, reframing her look with an unexpected punch of colour.
Across every setting, Jen remained consistent, bold, polished, and unmistakably individual.
Adam – Casual Streetwear Meets Statement Fashion
Adam’s styling brought a versatile mix of casual energy and expressive fashion. His ability to shift between understated and statement looks made his section of the shoot dynamic.
- Look One: Light blue denim shorts with a layered sleeveless black top over a white T-shirt. Simple but effective, paired with black socks, trainers, and accessories including rings, a silver bracelet, and a pendant necklace. These small details gave close-up shots depth. Sharp eyeliner added intensity, lifting the streetwear into something more stylised.
- Look Two: A zebra-print shirt and patterned long coat over distressed jeans. This bold shift carried a theatrical quality. It paired perfectly with graffiti walls and graphic murals, almost blending into the rhythm of the city while still commanding attention.
His poses ranged from relaxed, almost effortless gestures, to more fluid and expressive movements when wearing the patterned coat. Against stone steps or carved doors, he looked youthful yet purposeful. Against bright yellow or graffiti walls, his energy became playful and urban.
The variety across his styling showcased not only the clothing but his ability to embody different moods, casual authenticity one moment, fashion-forward edge the next.
Vanessa – Bold Colour and Confident Presence
Vanessa’s look centred on colour and sleek urban styling. Her bright pink ribbed crop top immediately caught the eye, contrasted by high-waisted, fitted leather-effect trousers in black.
Layering introduced depth. A cropped red puffer jacket brought colour blocking into the mix, clashing powerfully with the pink top while reinforcing a streetwear edge. Accessories were minimal but sharp: a statement belt with gold rings, leather ankle boots, and fingerless gloves in some frames.
Her long, straight hair balanced the structured clothing, softening the look without losing impact. Makeup enhanced her natural features while leaving space for her direct, commanding expressions.
Vanessa’s confidence worked across the city locations. Stone arches provided contrast to her bright styling. Stairways and railings added architectural drama. Graffiti and leafy alleys gave her look both grit and softness.
Her poses carried both strength and adaptability, sometimes fierce and direct, sometimes reflective and softer. This versatility tied the glamour and urban elements together into a unified aesthetic.
The Role of Location in Street Photography
The settings across Norwich shaped the shoot as much as the outfits.
- The Forum and Guildhall gave us dramatic stone and glass textures that amplified structure and symmetry.
- The Undercroft Gallery and graffiti walls introduced raw, expressive energy, making colours and prints stand out.
- Pottergate Street and the underpass added movement and edge, their rough textures complementing fashion-led poses.
- St Benedicts Street gave us vibrant backdrops, from shopfronts to alleys that balanced grit with charm.
Norwich as a city brings together history, colour, and a creative edge. That mix made it ideal for this theme.
Reflections on the Shoot
Working with Jen, Adam, and Vanessa highlighted the importance of collaboration. Each brought their own take on glamour, and together their styles created a narrative of contrasts, black and bold colour, casual and polished, soft and sharp.
As photographers, Cin and I aimed to balance individuality with cohesion. We wanted every model to stand out but also for the shoot to feel like a series, not three disconnected sets. Using light, composition, and the natural textures of Norwich, we achieved that balance.
The final images reflect both the models’ personalities and the spirit of the city. Polished looks against historic and urban backdrops created a story of glamour in the streets, exactly as planned.
