On the 10th of December, 2023, I joined the bustling crowds at Gorleston promenade to document a unique charity event – the Santa Dash. This Christmas-themed fundraiser was all about community spirit, empathy, unity, and celebration. My goal was to capture the essence of these values through my lens, focusing on the joyous faces of participants, the dedicated volunteers, and the picturesque backdrop of Gorleston seafront.

The Santa Dash saw over 245 enthusiastic supporters don Santa outfits and festive attire for a good cause. From the energetic 5k timed run to the cheerful 2k family fun run, every moment was filled with vibrant energy and a sense of unity. My task was to encapsulate these emotions in photographs, ensuring that each shot reflected the hospice’s ethos and the community’s involvement.
Challenges and Rewards
Photographing an event like the Santa Dash presented unique challenges and rewards. The mix of candid and portrait photography meant I had to be constantly on the move, ready to capture spontaneous moments of joy and structured shots that highlighted the event’s purpose.
