Social Media Photography F.A.Q

  4. Social Media Photography F.A.Q

Here is a list of frequently asked questions about my social media photography service. If your question isn’t covered here, get in touch.

How does this work?

The first step is a brief from you. This should cover the type of images you need, how they’ll be used, and any specific requirements around file format, orientation, or look. It gives me what I need to plan the shoot properly and provide an accurate quote.

Mileage?

For shoots outside the Bentwaters area near Woodbridge, Suffolk, a mileage charge applies at 60 pence per mile. This is separate from the photography fee and will be itemised on your invoice.

What are your opening hours?

There are no fixed hours. The nature of the work means a standard schedule doesn’t always suit. If you need an early morning or late evening shoot, get in touch and we’ll find a time that works.

Do I have to use my sessions consecutively?

No. Each session is booked individually through the booking calendar at a time and date that suits you. The sessions don’t need to be taken back to back, but all of them must be used within the 12-month subscription period.

Location or studio?

For social media photography, location work is usually more appropriate. The aim is to show you and your business in context, which is harder to achieve in a studio. Product photography is the exception, that works best in the studio, where I can control the lighting and background.

Studio location?

The studio is at Base Business Park, Unit 5 Allied House, Rendlesham, Woodbridge, Suffolk, IP12 2TZ. You can call me on 07884 366342 or use the Google map link to find it.

Access to the studio?

There is ample parking on site. There are two steps into the studio, which is worth bearing in mind if you have any mobility considerations.

What facilities are available?

The studio has a main photography space, makeup and changing facilities, and toilet facilities.

Can you bring your studio to me?

Yes, the setup is mobile. Before confirming a location, I’d want to talk it through with you first. Space, light, and other practical factors all affect what’s possible, so it’s worth a conversation before the shoot day.

Image use?

Your images are yours to use for your business. If I’d like to feature any of them on my blog, website, or social media, or to enter into competitions or apply for qualifications, I’ll ask your permission beforehand. If you’d prefer they’re not used in that way, I’ll respect that.

Image storage?

Images are kept for up to one month after your last session. Please make sure you’ve downloaded and saved everything you need within that time, as I can’t guarantee availability beyond that point.

Who owns the copyright to the photographs?

Under UK law, specifically the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, copyright stays with the photographer. As the photographer, I retain copyright over all images produced during the session.

What usage rights do business clients have?

Business clients are granted a licence to use the images for their commercial operations, including marketing, social media, and internal communications. The licence is non-exclusive and subject to the terms set out in the formal licensing agreement.

Is copying or scanning the images permissible?

Copying or scanning photographs without written permission from me is a breach of copyright law. If you need to use the images beyond the scope of the original agreement, get in touch to discuss terms.

Can a business client sell these images to a third party?

Resale of images to a third party is not permitted under the licensing agreement. If you need to transfer them to another business or entity for any reason, a separate licence agreement would be required and additional fees would apply.

Do I have to make a booking?

Yes. All sessions are booked in advance. You can use the online booking calendar or give me a call to arrange a time.

Are you insured?

Yes. I carry Professional Indemnity Insurance and Public Liability Insurance. Documents are available on request.

How long does the shoot take?

Sessions run for three hours. That includes setup time, so it’s worth factoring that into your plans for the day.

What happens if I need to cancel, postpone or reschedule?

I’ll do my best to accommodate changes where I can. The specific terms around cancellation are set out in the contract you’ll receive at the time of booking.

After the shoot?

Within a few days of the session, I’ll send you a link to a password-protected online gallery. You can review and select your images there, and share the link with colleagues if you need to.

Do you edit/retouch the images?

All delivered images go through a standard editing process. If you need extensive retouching beyond that, an additional charge may apply.

Do you crop the images?

I generally leave cropping to you, since you’ll know how the images will be used and whether you need extra space for text or a specific format. If you need me to crop them, just let me know.

Policy on makeup and attire?

The decisions on makeup and attire are yours. I can offer guidance on what tends to work well in front of the camera, but the final call rests with you or whoever you’ve asked to advise on the day. If you have specific preferences or concerns, let me know ahead of the session so we can factor them in.
