I was thrilled when Ann Pettifor contacted me to do some formal headshots for promotional use on TV, websites and social media (she’s prolific on twitter @AnnPettifor).The premise was that the head shots need to be serious but friendly as they will be used in forthcoming articles about her new book, The Production of Money, published by Verso; but also for articles on the economy and the monetary system.
Ann is an impressive lady with an interesting resume. She is a London-based economist, director of Policy Research in Macroeconomics (PRIME), an honorary research fellow at the Political Economy Research Centre at City University, London (CITYPERC) and a fellow of the New Economics Foundation, London. She is best known for correctly predicting the Global Financial Crisis in several publications including “Coming soon: The new poor” published in the New Statesman in 2003, and for her October 2006 Book: “The Coming First World Debt Crisis” (Palgrave Macmillan).
At the studio, Ann was a consummate professional, arriving on time with everything she needed. She was not phased by the lights or the camera and knew exactly what she wanted. We very quickly got on with taking the photos needed for everyday use, and then I persuaded her to change her outfit and add colour and vibrancy to the finished product.
